Over the years, we have developed a kind of wisdom to serve you better and adjust ourselves to the multiple changes and context of the new millennium. Our club was totally private originally, but for the past several years, it has been opened up to all visitors interested in discovering our magnificent golf course and play on historical links while admiring the beautiful Charlevoix landscapes, a region which is part of the World Biosphere Reserve.
The members, the staff and the board of directors invite you to learn, via this site, about this very varied period of our history and to take a virtual tour in order to give you an idea of what our course and landscapes are like. It's a golf and relaxation experience in a tourism region well known for its hospitality.
It will always be a great pleasure to welcome and serve you, and we wish you a most enjoyable stay with us.
History of the Murray Bay Golf Club
From the creation of the club in 1876 to this day including its incorporation in 1894, the Murray Bay Golf Club has managed to adjust to the passing of time. It is the third oldest club in America and the oldest one still operating in the same location.
The first president of the club, Dr. D. M. Stimson, gave Jacques Bouchard $20 to rent his land for the season. The course area was a little smaller than the current one. Golfers struggled not only to reduce their handicap but also against the cows and sheep that grazed in this large field.
